Observations: Chastity: Today we met our pig, Elvis Pigsley. He's really cute but I'm really excited to dissect him and learn more about him.
Fabiola: We got our fetal pig today and named him Elvis Pigsley. I'm excited to learn more about him and the similarities between a pig and humans, but I'm not too fond of the smell. ________________________________________________________________________________
May 11, 2015 Today we skinned our pig.
Observations: Chastity: Our pig had really thick skin, so skinning it was pretty hard. We were scared that we might rip some of the pigs muscles apart if we weren't careful. As we were skinning our pig we noticed how different some structures were compared to our human structures, like its trotters (feet).
Fabiola: Skinning our pig was a hard task. Getting all the skin off carefully was very challenging because we had to be careful to not rip any other component apart. It was really interesting to have a closer look at the pig once all the skin was off, we were able to see some of its major structures come to life, like its rib cage that was really pronounced. ______________________________________________________________________________
May 13, 2015 After getting rid of the skin from the pig, we located various muscles and pinpointed them.
Observations: Chastity- Ipersonally found it to be challenging when trying to locate the muscles on the pig, but with the help of the diagrams available during the procedure, finding the muscles was accomplished. It is interesting to look at live muscles instead of studying them from a book .
Fabiola: Pinning the muscles on the pig was definitely the hardest part for me as well. It was hard not to pin the wrong muscle since most of them looked very similar from the surface. It was interesting to learn about its muscles, and see them up close. With the aid of our teacher and the various diagrams presented to us, we were able to correctly locate the muscles.
May 18th, 2015 Today we cut our pig open, exposing all of its internal organs. We also cut through its jaw, opening its mouth wider and pinpointing certain structures.
Observations:
Chastity: Cutting through the pig was really interesting, my partner and I got to see the pig's internal organs and where they are positioned. When we opened the mouth wider, we were able to see certain organs more clearly and were able to pinpoint them. Cutting through the jaw was an obstacle because we had to use a lot of strength, and locating certain organs was a challenge as well. With the help of our teacher, we successfully pinpointed certain structures.
Fabiola: Cutting our pig open allowed us to see the organs better. It was really interesting to see how the organs look in person, and to see how much they differ in size from human organs. In order to locate the organs in the pig's mouth, we had to cut though the jaw, which was a challenge because we had to put a lot of pressure on our incisions, otherwise we wouldn't be able to open the pig's mouth wider. Working together with my partner, we successfully completed our task.
After opening up the fetal pig, we pinpointed various internal organs for the digestive system.
Observations: Chastity: Locating the organs for the digestive system was a little bit challenging due to the fact with a lot of the organs being well hidden or looking similar. After checking in with our teacher about the organs we had to locate, the majority of them turned out to be correct. Taking out the small intestines was quite fun, especially when it came to measuring how long they were.
Fabiola: The digestive system was a very interesting part of the project since many of the organs were difficult to locate, and also with my partner and I contemplating whether or not an organ was the actual organ we were assigned to look for. For the small intestines, we focused on making sure not to tear it about, yet it was nearly impossible not to. I felt that we did a pretty good job on that task, and the small intestines turned out to be a decent length.

We worked with the respiratory and circulatory system.
Observations:
Chastity: Our objective was to locate organs for the respiratory system, as well as be familiar with the heart. It was easy working with the respiratory system, and the best part for me was being able to remove the heart from the body and having the ability to open it up to see the parts inside.
Fabiola: Learning about the organs dealing with the respiratory system was interesting and was quite easy locating them . Removing the heart was really fascinating, especially when we got a chance to slice the heart in half and being able to look at the inside of it.
June 1, 2015
Today's dissection was focused on the reproductive and urinary system.
Observations:
Chastity: The urinary system was very interesting in our objective, especially when my partner and I had to take out a kidney and slice it open. It was terrifying when trying to cut the kidney since I felt that something could go wrong, such as cutting part of the kidney that was not suppose to be cut. Working with the reproductive system since we felt unsure on being correct when locating what was told to be found.
Fabiola: I definitely enjoyed the urinary system and my favorite part was when we had to take out the kidney and cut it in order to open and see the inside. We hoped that we did not cut anything in the kidney that was not supposed to be cut, but everything turned out fine. The reproductive system was a little difficult when looking for certain items and I thought that we had some wrong, although we turned out to have almost everything right.
